Space Exploration/Progress
Normally I consider it crude to discuss deep personal feelings in such a public forum, but just this once I will admit that lately at times when I watch a movie from my rather substantial sci-fi collection I sometimes feel a twinge of agony. Why? Because I know that although we can achieve the grandeur depicted in some of those movies, we won’t because of characters like Obama and the people who voted for him. But first, I would like to share a dream that I had a few nights ago. I do not necessarily believe that my dreams are prescient, but it’s a fact that my mind continues to work and mull over things in my sleep, and that my unconscious mind has access to memories that my conscious mind cannot always access. Basically my dream was as follows:
I found myself on another planet, or planetary body in any case, I believe it was one of the moons of Jupiter. The moon had been terraformed and colonized. However, since it was considerably further from the sun it was significantly colder, and a bit darker. A level of illumination one might find at sunrise, sunset, or a very cloudy day. It was also fairly cloudy and moist. The plants there were genetically engineered, and appeared different from standard terrestrial varieties. Off in the distance there was an enormous industrial building. It was my impression that the enormous industrial building and the flora were instrumental in the terraforming process, which depended on generating a synthetic greenhouse effect. At any rate, it was not the US that carried out the colonization and terraforming since Obama has pretty much grounded our space program (he cancelled the mission to colonize the moon). The work, terraforming and colonization, was actually done by Tunisia of all places. Anyways, I remembered the relief I felt at being there because I was safe from the one world (Earth) government, and any children I had would also be safe. Why? Because it is written that the anti-Christ will rule the earth, but not anything more than the earth.
Shortly after having this dream, I did some research about the moons of Jupiter to see if my dream could ever come true. I already knew that Europa was covered in water ice (I say water ice because there are other bodies in the solar system covered with frozen gasses, which is ice but not water), so Europa was the first one I looked into. It is believed that Europa has liquid water deep beneath the surface ice, and that the icy crust sometimes cracks and reshapes itself, probably due to the influence of tidal forces from Jupiter. Also, there is some evidence of liquid water erupting to the surface. I also found out that Europa has an atmosphere of oxygen, although only a minute fraction of the density of Earth’s atmosphere. However, I ruled Europa out as a feasible candidate for terraforming as it seems that even if the temperature could be raised there would still be no place to live as the entire surface would be covered with ocean. That, and I don’t believe that the gravity has sufficient strength to retain a full atmosphere. However, I also discovered that Ganymede also has an oxygen atmosphere.

Ganymede is the largest moon in the solar system, but still somewhat smaller than Mars. Ganymede appears to have both oceans and some type of land mass. Scientists have described the two types of terrain as “old” and “new” given the fact that one is more cratered than the other. The “old” terrain is dark and abundantly cratered. The “new” terrain is light, has few craters, and exhibits the same sort of ridge formations found on Europa. The light terrain is definitely water ice and seems to reshape itself and in doing so erase evidence of craters. It would appear that the surface of Ganymede has both land and oceans. Ganymede also has a magnetosphere, and it is the only moon that does. Aside from navigational uses, a magnetosphere also deflects harmful particles from the sun. Like Earth, Ganymede also has aurora borealis events at the poles. Out of all bodies in the solar system, Ganymede bears the strongest resemblance to Earth. If it were closer to the sun it would probably be inhabitable. That being said, it might still be possible to render it habitable if an artificial greenhouse effect could be generated. It would be colder than Earth but parts of it might not be fatally so.
I have always believed that it was part of God’s original plan for humanity to spread out and colonize the universe. We may not be the only sentient form of life God has made, but it’s a fact that we were originally intended to be immortal, and given an immortal yet reproducing population expansion would become a necessity. Some of the planets and moons in the solar system have the necessary components to support life, while some are rich in raw materials for construction and fuel. And of course colonizing other planets in the solar system would only be the first step toward branching outward through all of space. So I definitely believe that it can be done, it’s only a matter of discovery and unlocking the secrets.
So why did Obama cancel the lunar program and how does this hurt progress? I explained earlier how the moon would be a valuable jumping off point for further colonization of the solar system. I would not mind if Obama cancelled the space program, as it is a government program and anything the government can do the private sector can do better, were it not for the fact that he is also working to abolish the private sector. Also I cannot believe that the government would allow private industries to place colonies on the moon unless there was a government presence there in advance of them. Initially I thought that he cancelled the lunar program simply because he was anti-progress. From after Kennedy onwards the Democrats have been rather hostile towards science and progress, opposing valuable defense programs and space exploration. There is a significant element among the Democratic constituency which contributes nothing to society and expects to be supported by the government and others. There is an element that cares nothing for science and progress, cares for no one but themselves, feels that others owe them simply because they exist, and hates the rest of society. There is another element of the Democrat party that hates traditional American values (self sufficiency and progress), and feels that we as a nation should be punished. That fairly well sums up the majority of the Democratic constituency. So, although he could have cancelled any program, it makes thorough sense that he would strike at the space program. However, I think there is another reason why besides the obvious.
12And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
–Revelation 13:12-14
Not saying that Obama is the anti-Christ, and just for the record I do not believe he is, but I definitely believe he is preparing the way. In any case, the upper echelons of the political left probably know what they are doing, and the effect is that they are cutting off an escape route. It is written that Satan will rule the earth one day through the anti-Christ, but it is not written that they will ever control anything more than that. It is logical to conclude that if people could leave the earth for other worlds, then an escape route would exist, so it is important for them to make sure that no such route exists.

You make an excellent point. Thank-you for posting this and expanding on things I, too, believe. I had not thought about the ‘escape route’, but God always makes a way where there is no way. An example is in Acts 9:23-25, when Paul had just started his career. People in power wanted him killed, but he escaped in a basket. Also, after the Diet of Worms, Martin Luther had the sentence of death on his head, but a duke ‘kidnapped’ him and hid him from authorities.
Some people say that when the moon turns to blood, (Joel 2:31; Acts 2:20; Revelation 6:12), it will be a visual phenomenon. I’ve been told, and give credence to what a man of God once told me: mass murder on the moon. From what you say, this could be a government attacking a private concern, or two governments fighting each other. I don’t know, but in light of your post, it does give one something to ponder.
@Alatariel40 - I think that our escape route will probably be the wilderness areas, because that’s where Jesus tells us to run. I also think that that is why the liberals want to divide the US up into human and nature zones making it illegal for humans to go into nature zones. They want to cut off all our escape routes. They’re like Sauron in that they can’t tolerate anyone living happy or free, everyone has to be under their rule. They’re also like the Borg, they want to assimilate everyone regardless of whether you want it or not, and if you can’t be assimilated then you have to die. I think that a lot of the time God provides an escape route but not all the time, look at what’s happening to Christians in Sudan. It’s jacked up. Of course it may be that they have the option of running away further south or west into the Sahara and they are just staying in Sudan at their own risk.
Anyways that’s an interesting idea, I never thought of that before. I always thought that something would happen to the atmosphere that would cause the moon to appear red in the sky, like volcanic dust kicked up from the aftermath of the impact of a giant asteroid. But I wouldn’t put it past the NWO to nuke any lunar settlements, especially if they try to declare independance like the American Colonies did from England. I was thinking of the moon as a staging point to colonize other bodies in the Solar System, but now I’m wondering if it might not actually be possible to terraform the moon.
I never would have come to that conclusion of them preventing a future escape route, but that’s really interesting. I guess we’ll see.
I’m sure Obama cancelled the lunar program because he’s trying to make room in his budget for socialized healthcare. That said, I do think that putting faith in the private market is better than putting it in NASA.
@BecauseIamDonnieDarko - It just sort of dawned on me recently. But yes, it’s horrible, I really hope we don’t live to see it (to which the Democrats will say, “Sure, I’ll be glad to oblige you on that”).
@St_Faustus - I’m sure that has something to do with it as well, although what amazes me is how he increases spending in so many other areas. He could have cut spending in a multitude of other areas in order to compensate. In any case, I’m always going to see the Democrats as anti-progress, anti-science (except when it comes to methods of control), and anti-freedom. I really hope they fail to pass their “health” reforms. The socialized healthcare is a bad idea on so many levels. I actually expect them to fail, and I think Obama’s chances of winning this next election won’t be as great as they were this time.
Right, anything the government can do the private sector can do better. Of course that’s assuming that there’s any private sector left, he’s also working hard to eliminate that as well. He’s a thorough scoundrel, I think he wants to turn our country into a hellhole like his native Kenya. BTW, do you know of any private space programs that are currently in operation?
I thought you were just a tool but it turns out you’re actually insane.
@agnophilo - You just hate progress like every other leftist. Your idea of “scientific progress” is trying to prove that life came from a rock, while our idea is space exploration and innovation.
@agnophilo - Oh, almost forgot. No offense, but I honestly don’t care what you think. If you find what I have to say to be so repellant then all you have to do is not read it. There’s plenty of blogrings on xanga for communists and evolutionists where you can find more of your own people to talk to. Like minded individuals who will share your worship of government and evolutionism.
@Ambrosius_Augustus_Rex -
No, I’m a big fan of space exploration. However keeping the NASA budget the same for one year because we are a trillion dollars over budget is not an evil plot to kill mankind’s future and bring about the apocalypse. That is absolutely insane.
@Ambrosius_Augustus_Rex -
Haha. I don’t agree with you therefore I’m a communist. Maybe you’re insane and a tool.
Anyways, you can call me whatever you like, but the fact is I’m a visionary. I was reading Isaac Asimov when I was a kid while the other kids were reading See Spot Run. The future is colonizing other planets and expanding outward from the Solar System. You don’t see it here, but I also draw and write short stories and even poetry sometimes. As a matter of course I hate things that stifle progress and creativity.
Also, it’s a fact that the left wing is all about control, and everything they do is geared towards putting more power into the hands of government. Whether it’s confuscating personal weapons, mandating what kind of medical treatments a person can receive, or regulating the types of cars people can drive it all amounts to the same goal. More power for government. I call everyone on the political left communists and fascists. If you take umbrage to that and want me to stop calling you a communist then there is one real easy way you can make me stop. You can tell me what your political ideology is and how you typically vote, also whether or not you support Obama, and if you’re not a leftist then I will never call you again, and we can just keep debating evolution without bickering over politics. You can be my special atheist friend.
@Ambrosius_Augustus_Rex -

You could have a brilliant creative mind. However your worldview has to be based on objective logic and evidence, not just the most far-out thing you imagine might be true.
“Also, it’s a fact that the left wing is all about control, and everything they do is geared towards putting more power into the hands of government.”
Um, you just described both parties. The republicans upped federal spending 20% for a decade and want to regulate not just commerce, but things like who sleeps with who. What, is imposing christian morality on people not “big government” too, just because you’re christian?
“Whether it’s confuscating personal weapons,”
I don’t think my neighbor should be able to have land mines in his front yard and a 50 cal on his porch for “personal defense”. Nor do I think he should have access to C-4, ground to air missiles, nuclear material and any number of military weapons. Almost anyone, conservative or liberal, will agree there has to be a line drawn. Both sides have agreed for the most part that you can have handguns, shotguns, rifles etc, but not assault weapons and mounted machineguns etc. If you wanna call that fascism then fine. It’s stupid, but whatever.
“mandating what kind of medical treatments a person can receive,”
In no way is anyone trying to do that. I know conservative pundits are claiming that that’s happening, but they make stuff up to scare people.
“or regulating the types of cars people can drive it all amounts to the same goal.”
So you don’t believe in the authority of a society to govern itself? I mean do you think we should be able to regulate lead in toothpaste and paint, cancer causing agents etc? Then how is regulating how much shit someone can pump into the air fascism?
“More power for government.”
No. Some things are designed to expand peoples’ power, such as the bush administration expanding executive powers. But some things are actually honest attempts to address problems.
“I call everyone on the political left communists and fascists. If you take umbrage to that and want me to stop calling you a communist then there is one real easy way you can make me stop. I’m a registered independent. I voted for obama because he was significantly better than the alternative, and I hope he does a good job. I’m probably what you would consider a “leftist”, but then again anyone who doesn’t speak in tongues or ever votes for a democrat or ever disagrees with your politics you pretty much call a commie fascist.
Do you think Sarah Palin might be the Anti-Christ? Think about it! A lot of religious people would never see her comming.
Or do think the Anti-Christ definantly must be a Democrat? I think I heard that once! It might be in the Bible.
@agnophilo - I tend to agree. Logic and facts have led me to the Biblical worldview, which makes me leery and distrustful of any attempt at world government.
Yes they both increase spending, but the Democrats do it on a larger scale. In any case, I don’t like the Republicans either, I like the Libertarian and Constitutional parties, I just vote Republican to keep the Democrats out who I see as a serious threat.
Well attacks on the 2nd ammendment are more specifically what I was referring to.
No, if the government is providing your health coverage then they get to choose what you can and cannot have. Bye bye alternative treatments, like the sort which has cured my allergies. Also you need to consider that there is no way the Democrats are going to try to help you live longer given their constant griping about overpopulation.
I’m an anarchist, this guy pretty much sums up my views: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2shJS5KveYg
Expanding people’s powers is the opposite of the government taking on a new responsibility.
That’s a leftist. The candidate I wanted was Ron Paul. Obama was a movie in the opposite direction from where we needed to go after the previous administration. Actually I can’t speak in tongues, my parents can and my sister can but not me for some reason.
@Justin_DeBin - I don’t think so for two reasons, one being that the anti-Christ is supposed to be a man. Another reason is that the anti-Christ will be someone that people around the world will want to worship, and I doubt many people want to worship Palin. There are a lot of conservative Americans who like her but not enough to worship, and as for the rest of the world, it’s the Democrats that they tend to prefer.
I don’t necessarily think that the anti-Christ even has to come from the US, it could be someone from China, Europe, or even the Middle East. If the anti-Christ were associated with the Islamic world it would be really convenient because he would already have a huge fanatical army and he wouldn’t have to go through the trouble of conquering the Middle East. But again, it’s all just speculation, I think it’s easier to say who the anti-Christ isn’t than who he is, assuming he even exists yet.
@Ambrosius_Augustus_Rex - Bible really does specify that AC is a man? I thought it was somewhat vague.
I’ll bet there are lots of people who would worship Sarah if she were elected.
So you’re saying the democrats are morelikely to produce the Anti-Christ than the republicans, if the AC does indeed come from the US. Right or wrong?
@Justin_DeBin - Well it always refers to him with a masculine pronoun, so I assume he’s a he.
That would be idolatry, I mean, there are slobbering sycophants on both sides of the political spectrum but it’s hard to imagine anyone literally worshipping her. Unlike Obama, where they put a likeness of him on a donkey and led it through some town while waiving palm branches. Ug…
I think it’s more likely that the Democrats would produce an AC since the spirit of anti-Christ runs more strongly with them, but honestly, I think that one of the things that needs to happen is for the US to be destroyed or weakened before the AC takes over. I think that the NWO sees the US more as an obstacle than a device they might actually want to work through. My theory is that the Democrats are just being used to weaken the US and get it out of the way.
@Ambrosius_Augustus_Rex -
We may not be able to get to the moon anytime soon, but if anything, people can still fight for their freedoms in the US. It’s still worth saving because people are still aware of the original vision and it’s not over yet. I’m an immigrant and it’s sad to say that I love this country more than a lot of the natives. I still believe in its vision of freedom, creativity, and progress.
BTW. I always love hearing about your dreams. They are so fascinating and always make so much sense =D This particular one is beautiful and bittersweet. You should write a book.
An attempt to nuke a lunar colony for rebellion is a powerful plot point.
@agnophilo -
That’s what some of history’s greatest and most creative people were called, so that’s actually a complement.
@Justin_DeBin -
No, Bible actually says the Anti-Christ will be recognizable and shows us how to pick him/it/them out.
A definite giveaway is people coming under bondage worldwide economically, socially, and politically under one global force. Leftist ideology is famous for championing such ideals. I have my suspicions about the Right but the Left is brazen and unapologetic about it (generally, I think they are both in on it). What’s worse is people think soft tyranny is good. Such supporters tend to not worship the God of Israel anyway, so they will have no qualms about worshiping 666 and receiving the mark on their foreheads or right hands. 666 denotes worship of self (which is inadvertently worship of Satan). This 666 system will tell you everything you want to hear while you lose your soul–like feeding you poisoned honey; like the Pied Piper leading you to your death. It will be a clash of systems with an anti-Christ who will try to sit on God’s throne over all creation.
Christ said he is the only way to escape the delusion and bondage because he is the rightful ruler of the earth. The true Christ, not some imitation anti-Christ.
@Ambrosius_Augustus_Rex -
You get gifts of the spirit you you ask for them. The more I learned about them and saw how they were profitable for ministry, the more I wanted them. However, they include a lot of “letting go” to some degree.=D
@Justin_DeBin -
You can’t divide the whole world into Republican or Democrat. The world is a little bigger than that, m’dear.
Daniel 8:23-25
23 “In the latter part of their reign, when rebels have become completely wicked, a stern-faced king, a master of intrigue, will arise. 24 He will become very strong, but not by his own power. He will cause astounding devastation and will succeed in whatever he does. He will destroy the mighty men and the holy people. 25 He will cause deceit to prosper, and he will consider himself superior. When they feel secure, he will destroy many and take his stand against the Prince of princes. Yet he will be destroyed, but not by human power.
I don’t think you’re being very honest when you call it vague. He is called a ‘man’ and male pronouns are used all throughout. How do you miss something like that?
@Ambrosius_Augustus_Rex -
That would make sense because by general heritage, America is the largest Judeo-Christian entity and an official ally to Jewish Israel-two groups Satan despises with a flaming passion.
Jon, I thought you’d find this clip interesting. This guy is going around with a petition to repeal the 1st Amendment . . . and people SIGNED it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tznR4wPeS4M
@TazHall - Yes, that is sad, and true. Well people on the left are firmly convinced that the US is the enemy of the world, but if they ever spent some time living in the countries of our enemies they would see how good the US is. We already know what happens to protestors in Iran and China (in those cases the protestors are actually protesting good things). We also know how wonderful and advanced Soviet Russia was, and what happened to people who complained there.
Really? Actually for a while I kept a log of my dreams but I stopped about 2 years ago because I got lazy. Some of them actually run like movies with a definite plot, and a beginning, middle, and end. I had a dream once about an astronaut that was on a lunar colony, and while there he crossed over into another universe as he approached the dark side of the moon. I had a few dreams about life on Mars, usually living in a reduced state in one way or another. You’re not the first person who told me I should write a novel, which means that I probably should. I have a few that I started and never finished.
@TazHall - Ah! So you’re saying the anti-Christ is Bill Gates!
@Ambrosius_Augustus_Rex - LMAO!!!!
@TazHall - That’s really sad but somehow I wasn’t the least bit surprised by it. People are sheep most of the time. But on the other hand, didn’t he do this in California? If so then that could explain a lot of it. California is the land of fruits and nuts after all.
@Ambrosius_Augustus_Rex -
The thing is, people expect us to accept the health bill and it will *magically* turn us into Copenhagen. I doubt we will get such a “Utopian” result considering how corrupt we are in other areas like corporatism, higher education, etc. I can’t form an opinion of Copenhagen itself because I know very little about it aside from what Oprah showed. I get very mixed results from people who have been through the health system in the UK, though. It’s either excellent or awful. I wonder if it has to do with your class and income.
I would look forward to a story by you because you are quite creative and you also have a technical mind. Not only would your fiction be colorful, it would probably be the kind of story that forces you to think like Lewis’ fiction.
