  • Global Warming

It seems that articles about “Global Warming” are appearing with increased frequency.  It is as though they are desperately attempting to generate panic.  Why?  Especially considering that global warming is a hoax.  The following excerpt comes from Australian News www.theaustralian.news.com.

    Climate facts to warm to

CATASTROPHIC predictions of global warming usually conjure with the notion of a tipping point, a point of no return.

Last Monday – on ABC Radio National, of all places – there was a tipping point of a different kind in the debate on climate change. It was a remarkable interview involving the co-host of Counterpoint, Michael Duffy and Jennifer Marohasy, a biologist and senior fellow of Melbourne-based think tank the Institute of Public Affairs. Anyone in public life who takes a position on the greenhouse gas hypothesis will ignore it at their peril.

Duffy asked Marohasy: “Is the Earth stillwarming?”

She replied: “No, actually, there has been cooling, if you take 1998 as your point of reference. If you take 2002 as your point of reference, then temperatures have plateaued. This is certainly not what you’d expect if carbon dioxide is driving temperature because carbon dioxide levels have been increasing but temperatures have actually been coming down over the last 10 years.”

Duffy: “Is this a matter of any controversy?”

Marohasy: “Actually, no. The head of the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) has actually acknowledged it. He talks about the apparent plateau in temperatures so far this century. So he recognises that in this century, over the past eight years, temperatures have plateaued … This is not what you’d expect, as I said, because if carbon dioxide is driving temperature then you’d expect that, given carbon dioxide levels have been continuing to increase, temperatures should be going up … So (it’s) very unexpected, not something that’s being discussed. It should be being discussed, though, because it’s very significant.”

Duffy: “It’s not only that it’s not discussed. We never hear it, do we? Whenever there’s any sort of weather event that can be linked into the global warming orthodoxy, it’s put on the front page. But a fact like that, which is that global warming stopped a decade ago, is virtually never reported, which is extraordinary.”

The fact of the matter is that natural mechanisms seem to be in place which keep the climate stable, and for the most part compensate for the increase in CO2 emissions.  The climate is actually getting cooler rather than warmer.  A truth which I have suspected for years but which seems to have been confirmed by this article.  If the earth was actually warming, we would experience an increase in precipitation as there would be an increase in evaporation leading to an increase in ambient moisture.  The polar icecaps would actually grow under such circumstances, although even if they are growing it does not automatically follow that the earth is getting warmer.  According to the article the earth did go through an interval of warming, but it stopped about 10 years ago.  So I restate my question, why all the scare?

I came across this article today: http://green.yahoo.com/news/afp/20080519/sc_afp/japanenvironmentclimate.html
Everyone who knows me well or at least reads my page will know that I have problems with the herd mentality, but when something which is a patent lie is continually pushed forwards as truth with increasing emphasis it can be somewhat irritating.  It’s as though it is continually trumped up to compensate for waning belief or to prevent waning belief, sort of like evolutionism.  Of course, I found that more often than not evolutionists typically also subscribe to GW (global warming), but I believe that believers in the GW paradigm might be a bit more extensive than only evolutionary believers as the belief in GW encompasses other groups as well.  GW has been so continually emphasized as being a fact that now it is considered to be one by most people, and like evolutionism, there are few people who examine the basis behind the belief and the opposing view is not given equal treatment.

As to the question of why, the answer is simple if one merely looks at the “solutions” for GW and those who will be responsible for enforcing and instituting said “solutions.”  It is governments who enforce and propose solutions, and it is the UN.  The purpose behind it is to increase the control of governments over the people, and the control of the UN over governments.  To create a higher level of world organization in which people will have less freedom.  Population control and the belief that there are too many people in the world also factors into this.  Liberals often believe that there are too many people in the world and that we ought to cut back the population so that the environment can prosper more.  Are there really too many people for the environment to sustain?  No of course not, but it is a fact that the more people there are the harder it is to keep track of everyone.  It may be that in order for a one world government to maintain absolute control and hegemony, it might be necessary to reduce the population, or at least helpful.  Hence the scare tactics and emphasis on population reduction for the sake of the environment.  It is an effort to get people to voluntarily reduce their numbers, however, in the meantime the government poisons the environment as well as the population with sprays and vaccines.

  • Well, I may be a godless evolutionist, but I am still extremely skeptical in regards to global warming or man made climate change because the diatribes are aimed at governments rather than individuals. They want to win over the people who can force us to live our lives differently. Already, the incandescent light bulb is being legally phased out even though the florescent replacement has been demonstrated to be dangerous to humans. The global warming advocates do not have the alleviation of human misery as a goal. Their real goal is political.

  • @St_Faustus - How are florescent lights dangerous?  I’m asking because we started replacing our bulbs with florescents in our house to save energy costs.

  • It is rather stupid.  All of it.

I remember a friend of mine who was required to do a survey of people’s views on global warming.  She asked her family and me since I was over there too.  I have to say, it was hard to take it seriously.  She asked how we can do our part to decrease the production of CO2. “Um… cease exhalation?”

I hate the overpopulation myth.  There are lush places on the earth that haven’t even been touched by humans yet so don’t give me that.  People just like to use it as an excuse fo abortion, same-sex marriage, eugenics, and forced sterilization of the “unfit” in 3rd world countries.  Sick.

One thing I really think we need to do is ease off our ravenous dependence on oil.  I had to pay $54.00 to fill my tank the other day… It’s all about monopoly.

  • I agree with you entirely. I would like to elaborate by saying that any type of social engineering is a form of eugenics. I think if the liberals had there way completely we would have a world government with a caste society of some type firmly in place. But actually, I think that voluntary sterilization might be a good thing within certain contexts. The liberals accuse us of being against abortion because we are trying to punish women for being promiscuous, but the truth of the matter is that most of the people getting abortions are liberals, and it won’t hurt us if liberals stop having children. We are against abortion because it’s murder, not because we are trying to punish people for being promiscuous. At any rate, I think that instead of having free abortion clinics like the liberals want we ought to have free sterilization clinics, that way all the people who want to be promiscuous can do so without running the risk of getting pregnant in the first place, and of course if they ever want to have the sterilization reversed they would be on their own for that. It would give us the dual benifit of reducing the size of the next generation of liberals while keeping them from feeling the need to kill their children.

  • @St_Faustus -

Really? I didnt know that the florescent bulb was harmful? I actually hate incandescent light because of its yellow tinge and heat generation. A lot of times I get sick from incandescent bulbs, so that’s a disturbing and unsettling thing to learn. I’ll have to check out that article you sent DiChile.

BTW, it’s good to see that even though you’re an evolutionist you havent turned to government worship like so many of them do.

  • Thanks. My views on the government haven’t changed much despite my apostasy. I’m still a minarcho-capitalist libertarian filled with distrust for all institutions that rely on force rather than persuasion for the execution of their objectives.

  • @St_Faustus - I too am an anarchist.  The way you put it is well, and for some reason I never put it that well, but you seem to have hit the nail on the head.  I too distrust any institutions which must resort to force in order to elicit compliance.  It may be that we need some kind of police force because not everyone is an intellectual or responsive to reason, but we certainly dont need a thing like the Federal government.  Anyways having to rely on force often indicates a weak position.  If you read “Foundation” then you might remember the words of Salvor Hardin, “Violence is the last resort of the incompetant.”

  • @St_Faustus - . . . well that SUCKS. D:  Thanks for the info St. F.

  • @jmsnooks -

Why are you an anarchist? That took me by surprise. If there were no government, there’d be so many more murders and murderERS out there, so much more violence. Humans can’t live without rules. That’s why God gave us rules. Trouble is, most people don’t obey those rules. So they need enforcing. No anarchist has ever told me WHY they hate government–other than those who rant about conspiracies and aliens and stuff, so they lose credibility in my mind–but I’d sincerely like to know why sensible people, like you, are anarchists.

Off topic: I see you like science fiction. Even though I don’t consider most of his stuff sci-fi, do you like Bradbury? How about the original Twilight Zone series?

  • @BecauseIamDonnieDarko - I actually had a series of entries in development explaining my theories and views on anarchy and governments, however, I got myself embroiled in a LOT of debates on that journal so it is going to be some time before I can get back to it.  There are a multitude of reasons to hate government, one is because they harvest money from citizens to perpetuate ideologies (case in point evolutionism), and another is the fact that there is a trend towards international conglomeration which is leading us towards the tribulation and a one world government.  Whether or not governments are needed is highly negligable.  There are no services provided by a government which could not be provided by the private sector and free enterprise, and there is also an inverse relationship between the size of an area over which a government holds hegemony and it’s ability to effectively meet the needs of it’s constituency.  People at the community level know what it is they need and want better than someone off in a distant capital city, and they are in a better position to effectively meet those needs.  All a large governmetn can do is place restraints on them, or at best do nothing, in which case revenue still has to leave the community to support the central bureaurocracy.  Also, not all communities are compatible with one another and in those cases should not be forced to live under the same roof.  I don’t see why there should be an increase in murders.  I don’t kill people because the Bible says it is wrong, and because I do not wish to cause anyone harm, not because of any man made laws which are nothing more than opinions backed by force.  And even if I didn’t care about the Bible or assign any kind of objective value to human life, I would still hesitate to kill people because I would not wish to deal with the complications involved in murder.  Also, one does not have to have governments in order to have a police force.  Small independant communities could keep their own peace and kill or drive of rabble rousers.  God gave us rules in the Torah, and the ones which still prevail in the NT are those which tell us right from wrong because God does not like sin.  Now, if you read the law and pay attention to all of it, you will notice that God establishes a police force without any kind of government.  They had no government or kind until Saul, and when the people asked for a King God told Samuel that it was He (God) who they were rejecting.

  • @BecauseIamDonnieDarko - Sorry I forgot to answer your other questions.  Haven’t actually heard of Bradbury.  I’m a huge fan of Isaac Asimov though, and I’ve done a lot of illustrations of his books.  I have seen some of the original Twilight Zone series, it was quite compelling.  Although I suppose STTOS and STTNG are probably my favorites.  Those and Farscape.

  • @jmsnooks -

I can’t figure out what STTOS and STTNG stand for. But Bradbury? Ray Bradbury? He wrote Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, Dandelion Wine, a few other novels, and like 500+ short stories. He’s regarded as one of the greatest living writers, and THE greatest living sci-fi writer (even though his “sci-fi” stories are usually not about space and aliens, but just sort of weird tales, you know?).

  • @jmsnooks -

So you’re against BIG government, ’cause you still are for community government, yes? Also, there is zero trouble involved with murder if there is no government. There are no rules if there is no government, right? Having rules means having a government, or rules to “govern” people.

  • @BecauseIamDonnieDarko - Sounds familiar, I’ll have to check him out.

  • @BecauseIamDonnieDarko - By government I mean that I am against formalized relationships between the looter and the producer.  Absolute pure anarchy would require everyone to have equal capabilities and that can never be the case, stronger personalities and intellects tend to dominate over weaker.  So there would be some form of leadership but it would be on a very small scale.  One can have rules without a government or ruling body.  Ancient Israel used to be like that before Saul, and there were other societies where the village elders provided leadership, but in both cases citizens policed and defended themselves.  Having no rules does not necessarily mean an escalation of murder, as the possibility for retaliation still exists, and in fact the retaliation would be much quicker than it would be going through a judicial system.  Although the system I advocate is more anarcho-capitalism rather than pure unmitigated anarchy, which may be only theoretical.  If you are interested I wrote an entry a while back where I explain the different types of sociopolitical organization and where they fall along the political spectrum.
